Welcome to the February 10, 2010 edition of the Carnival of Cities; the blog carnival where we take a trip around the world in one blog post.
This is a special edition of the Carnival – hurray! – because today is the 4th birthday for the Family Travel Logue here on BootsnAll, and this month is also the 3rd birthday for the Carnival of Cities. Our first one was posted on February 19, 2007, and I launched it with Jon Symons on his unfortunately now-defunct blog network Home Turf Media. In 2008, this blog became its permanent host – but it’s a carnival, so it travels!
Thanks very much to the host for the previous Carnival edition, Glennia on the excellent blog The Silent I, and we’re looking forward to meeting Jordy Clements, who will host the next edition on Wednesday, February 24. Send her your ONE recent blog post about any aspect of ONE, single city by noon on Tuesday, February 23 – here is the Carnival submission page.
If you’d like to host this bi-weekly carnival on your blog, please email me at Sheila “at” sheilascarborough “dot” com. Thanks!
Off we go….

Maybe you have observed the trend of more Caucasian guys and Asian women dating? It seems like the hip thing to do right now. I have several friends who mainly date Asian women but based on. Is there something about Asian women that Western guys find highly attractive? And are there certain types of Asian women that are especially compatible with American men? I find Vietnamese women and Japanese women to be rather captivating. My buddies say Filipina women make the best partners. I’m curious what others say about this.

Get yourselves a couple of Shakespeare Ugly-Stik tiger rods with PENN senator 6/0-8/0 reels on them and rig them with 30# line for your smaller fish when trolling (i will rest my reputation on these rigs) as for the bigger rigs get yourself a couple of PENN Tuna Sticks or an Ugly-Stik Bigwater Boat rod paired with a PENN 14/0-16/0 rigged with 50#-80# line and you have yourself one of the toughest setups out there these setups have been used to take everything from Marlin and Bluefin Tuna to several hundred pound sharks

I rather watch Tiger have a train wreck than seeing another grinder pull a one off win out of his hat. Can you really expect a Graeme McDowell or Louis Oosthuizen to win another major? And as bad as Tiger is playing, Phil Mickelson should have replaced him as the new Number 1 but Phil has somehow managed to play worse than Tiger.

You can not drain your li-po battery completely. The general rule is to not charge them 100% completely, and not drain them below it’s voltage. Doing so will cause the battery to begin puffing up and possibly blow up. Each RC helicopter has a manual and an approximate run time. The approximate run time is about 10-15 minutes. You should run only 10 minutes, which is the average run time on any aircraft.

Microwave ovens cook food from the inside out — therefore, roasting is not possible. You will want to put it in the oven so that it can get exposed on the outside to the heat of the oven.

It’s called "flash burn".I’ve had it really bad before and it happened worst at night. I pretty much just downed some sleeping pills put in some visine and Vaseline and went to bed. Avoid bright lights for a while, like the rest of the day. Keep your eyes closed. Time is the best and possibly only guaranteed cure. Don’t look at the light! Welders yell "cover" before welding as a warning.

I was thinking about starting a scrapbook collection for my final year of high school and college. I love making my own cards and scrapbooks by hand. They appeal to me basically because they seem more personal. Everyone is so hooked on the latest technology that they neglect the simple and creative things that don’t involve technology. If you don’t have the time to do scrapbooking, just work on a little bit at a time. Maybe just use a regular diary instead of a large scrapbook and insert ur favorite quotes, stories, poems, or pictures? I wouldn’t pay too much for a scrapbook- no more than $25. U can get pics and quotes from magazines or print them from the computer. Buy cheap stickers or create ur own stamps (Office Depot and Big Lots have a lot of good supplies), or maybe u can go 2 Joann’s Crafts or Michael’s for lace, beads, or anything u want 2 make ur scrapbook/gifts decorative. Might I also recommend getting the Print Shop cd-rom. This cd has a lot of graphics and features u can use to make ur own cards, labels, and envelopes. Good blessings 2 u! I wish u the best and have fun

The pattern for losing weight is not difficult – eat less food and workout more – the issues surface when we actually try to put that into practice! There are loads of temptations in the big wide world aren’t there?! I learned some excellent advice by reading the site in the box below, they have loads of tips, I shed 10 pounds by following their techniques.
August 20th, 2010 at 9:43 am
In addition to what the first person said, you may want to practice doing some journal entries where you observe your surroundings and write what you see. While my school did not require a portfolio or entrance exam until after the first year in the program (we were cut from 80 students to 40 students after taking a year’s worth of classes), our portfolio required us to have journal entries where we just wrote about design in everyday life. I would imagine that on an exam they may do something like show you a picture of a building or other enttity and ask you to write about the it and the emotions that it evokes. I’m not talking about sappy writing or saying "the building made me happy", but just things like, "they way the two roof lines merged together asymmetrically further emphasized the energy the architect was trying to create, and that was continued by the activity inside". Some type of BS like that. I would basically make sure your ability to draw, your sense of scale, and your writing ability are tops before entering an exam.

SEO can be lots of work if you go about it the hard way. Making changes to your site to do on-page optimization is fairly easy and won’t take long. What takes forever is getting quality backlinks from related websites. To solve this problem, check out Neurolinker. This is the cheapest and best (semi) automated backlink builder system out there.

If I had not already decided long, long ago that Bill Bonner is just right when he says that people come to believe the things they need to believe when they need to believe them, I would have no logical explanation for how anybody can believe in “the peace process.” Israel is not going to give up Jerusalem, nor allow itself to be un-Jewished at a blow by granting the “Right of Return.” The Palestinians are not going to settle for Jerusalem being held by Israel, nor will the surrounding Arab countries ever grant the sixty-year-plus “refugees” citizenship or take them out of their reverse Potemkin-villages.

Cybertron is a fictional planet, the homeworld of the Transformers in the various fictional incarnations of the metaseries and toyline by Hasbro. In the Japanese series, the planet is referred to as "Cybertron" (first shown on Japanese Galaxy Force packaging, despite the fact that "Cybertron" is the Japanese name for "Autobot") pronounced as ??????? Seibatoron.

Some were like Polish, Japanese, Chinese, Russian. You’ll have to search. They cost a couple dollars more than the regular movies though.

Uhm i think thats a Euro car so I wouldn’t know any companies. But i would recommend that you nix the collision insurance since a car that old probably isn’t worth repairing. That will save you a ton (As long as collision insurance isn’t legally required where you live. Here in the US liability insurance is the only required insurance)

Start with "Garmin.com". Be ready with the serial number of your Nuvi. Have the memory media you need – no less than 2 GB. More if you can get it. The download is going to be huge and take a substantial amount of time. I think they allow 1 free upgrade. Better e-mail them and verify you can still get it.

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

tell your mom not to be worried. that is a common, and normal side effect from taking iron. your mom also might find that it upsets her stomach, or makes her constipated. she should be on the lookout for these symptoms, and not be hesitant about treating them, especially the constipation, because it can get bad, depending on the dose of iron she’s taking.

Sadly, he doesn’t care about how much he embarrasses himself, he just wants the attention and the “fame” that comes along with it. The REALLY sad thing, is that this soul-sucking plan actually works.

I’m not a baseball fan, but this whole episode stinks to the high heavens. WHY in God’s name is congress (A group of liars if there ever was one) WASTING their valuable time on a baseball player who allegedly lied about taking drugs that may even kill him someday. The country is in the grip of a horrible mess caused by the inattention of politicians for the last 30 years. That boil is getting ready to burst, and here we have Congress trying to “look busy”. It’s really disgusting. It’s impossible for Congress to hold anyone in contempt, because that is the feeling that the entire country has -against THEM!…..

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
September 1st, 2010 at 12:17 pm
how can you say that? who really cares about that? what is super important is what the media tells us is important on any given day. haven’t you guys check the gossip sites today. it’s not about world events and how to keep the economy alive and healthy, they all want to know about paris hilton and her cocaine arrest.

I’m a sewing machine technician and will tell you DO NOT get a cheap plastic machine from Wal-Mart or wherever. The old machines are the best. Or look in thrift stores or yard sales and find an old one for cheap. If you turn the handle and the needle goes up and down and try the motor and it works then spend a little more and have the repair guy service it (yellow pages). Clean, oil, and adjust. I’m sure you can do all this for under 200 dollars. The old all metal heavy machines with just basic stitch patterns are all you need and they will last you forever. I find old machines all the time for 25 to 50.00 . Then just have it serviced. Good luck to you.
